Microsoft Expression Seminar:
Last month, you may have seen us in San Francisco, Chicago, or New York as we teamed up with Microsoft on the launch of Expression Studio. The seminars were a great opportunity for designers to check out the new professional design tools and innovative technologies in Expression.

Our sponsorship of the after party was a great success. We rubbed elbows with familiar community folks and got a chance to meet many of our customers face to face.

We're proud to team up with Microsoft on this major launch for the creative community with seminars and providing sample tutorials produced for each Expression Studio product box.

New Study by Internet Retailer
A strong market is developing for rich Internet features, a new study reports

Now's the time to start fine tuning your skills in Adobe Flex, Microsoft ASP.NET, and Microsoft Expression Web.

"More than 90% of marketers surveyed by Scene7 in a recent poll say they will be adding rich Internet applications over the next year to enhance the online user experience. Richer imagery, alternative views and gift suggestions were the most-frequently cited planned additions.

The survey, which polled retailers, catalogers and e-commerce sites, determined that the respondents considered the most effective rich Internet features those that involved improved product presentation. 78% of those surveyed cited zoom for that reason, while 76% cited visual product configurators, 75% cited color swatching and coloring, and 73% of respondents cited online monogramming with the same percentage citing alternative views."

Tip and Trick
Tip and Trick for Microsoft Excel 2007 from Michael Alexander, presenter for Total Training for Microsoft Excel 2007: Essentials.

Michael's Bio

Eliminate Spreadsheet Bloat
As you add and delete data to cells, Excel will hold file space for those cells that once contained data. That is to say, any cell that previously held data and is now blank, will still take up file space. The result of this behavior is that as you work with an Excel workbook, you will notice that the workbook will grow over time. This is referred to as spreadsheet bloat. To release any unused file space, do the following.

1. Select any cell then click the Find & Select button in the Home tab.
2. Select the Go To Special option.
3. Click the "Blanks" option and press OK.
4. Go up to the Home tab and select Clear>Clear All.
5. Save your workbook.

Presenter's Corner
We recently sat down with Janine Warner, Presenter for Total Training for Microsoft Expression Web. Here's some of what we learned about Janine. Janine's Bio

Q:

What is the favorite project on which you ever worked?
A: DigitalFamily.com. It's so satisfying to help families and friends share stories and photos on the Web, and the photos are so loving and adorable.

Q:

What is your most creative time?
A: I'm a night owl, but sometimes the chirping of the birds in the morning also inspires me.

Q:

When you're not plugged into work, what are you doing?
A: Hiking, biking, staring at the ocean, and hanging out with my husband and friends.

Q:

What are your three favorite features for this product?
A: 1. Great CSS Support
2. ASP.NET development options
3. Integration with Visual Studio

Q:

How did you get started in the industry?
A: I have a background in journalism and in the mid ‘90s started playing with the Internet and realized it would forever change the way we share information. So I set out to learn everything I could about this new communications medium and that led me to learn HTML and get "techier" than I could ever imagine I would in journalism school. I like to call myself a "techy translator" since I use my background as a journalist to develop easy to understand training about Web design and the Internet.
